Switzerland has its own currency, the Swiss Franc. While credit cards are widely accepted, it is advisable to carry at least small amounts of cash, e.g., in order to pay for a snack or for public transport. Money can be changed at airports and at the larger train stations, at banks, and in hotels (where the rates may be less advantageous). For current rates, you may wish to use a currency converter (e.g., http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic).

As in most European countries, Switzerland uses a voltage of 230 V. The three-pronged Swiss plugs are unique world-wide (see http://users.pandora.be/worldstandards/electricity.htm; Type J plugs) and will require a simple adapter unless your travel appliances are equipped with ungrounded europlugs. Adapters can be purchased at most airports.

Car free Mürren lies on a sunny mountainterrace opposite the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain range (a UNESCO World Heritage site) in the heart of the Swiss Alps. To reach Mürren, take either the spectacular mountain railway Lauterbrunnen - Mürren (BLM) from Lauterbrunnen or the Stechelberg - Mürren - Schilthorn Aerial Cableway (LSMS) from Stechelberg.

Directions to Lauterbrunnen / Stechelberg:

by road:
Take the motorway to Interlaken and take the Wilderswil exit, then continue on the main road towards Lauterbrunnen (Route planner) or on to Stechelberg (Route planner). The multi story car park in Lauterbrunnen is connected to the mountain railway Lauterbrunnen-Mürren (BLM) and there are free luggage trolleys at your disposal. In Stechelberg, there are ample parking spaces at the Schilthornbahn from where the cable car takes you up to Mürren.

by rail (www.rail.ch):
International connections (ICE, EC, IC) are regularly available to Interlaken Ost. From there change to the Bernese-Oberland-Railway (BOB) to Lauterbrunnen (travel time approx. 20 minutes) and enjoy the scenic journey with the BLM mountain railway to Mürren (travel time approx. 30 minutes).
Typical travel times from Zurich Airport to Muerren are 3:40 hours.

by air:
